[Q] Unlocking the Bootloader for Shield Tablet android 5.0.1 lollipop topic

I recently bought a Wifi Shield tablet and love it. However I do not like the small space of the internal memory. I upgraded it to android 5.0.1 so that I could move games and apps to the SD card but some stuff does not support this (Grand theft Auto SA and Vice City are using a lot of my limited space). I was told by a friend that if I rooted it I could move everything to the SD card if I wanted. However to do this I have to unlock the bootloader and the XDA fourm says I will lose everything!:crying: I don't see the point of this tablet if I can't stream my steam games to it and I don't want to lose support of the Stylus as well. What I would like to know is

1. If I root my Shield can I move all apps and games to the SD card if I need to free up space for something new?

2. If I unlock the bootloader will lose the shield apps like the Hub, DirectStylus features, Trine 2, etc... ? I don't care if I have to re-download the apps I put on it. That would not be to much work for me.

If anybody could help answer these question for me, I would greatly apreciate it. I just do not want to break my new toy.:D

[Q] 5.0.1 on Shield - is it worth it? topic

Hey everybody,

about a month ago I went through all the pain of updating to Lollipop and then root it with all the cluttered info I found. I was confused and scared. I got drunk. I threw some weird stuff at the thing. It worked.
Still don't know why.

Well as much as I like getting drunk again to update to 5.0.1 - is it worth going through the trouble again? I can't even install the updates that the tablet downloads again and again all the time.

I have 5.0, rooted.

[Q] Shield controller does not work any more? topic

Hello all,

My shield controller worked great when using KitKat.

I had no need for it for a while - but wanted to use it today. Since I used it last time, I have updated my wifi Shield Tablet to 5.0.1 (rooted). Th Lolipop update included a factory reset - so my original controller pairing was lost.

So I tried to pair it again - but the pairing did not work (the unit and the controller both just blink - but they do not connect). The I tried to select "forget all controllers" in the controller setup - when I click "yes" at the prompt, the controller app seems to be crashing, as I get a message saying that Shield Controller Stopped Working...

I tried everything (factory reset the controller, multiple restarts) but no luck.

The controller does not connect. The fact that the app crashes when I want to forget paired controllers suggests that this is a software issue. But what is the issue? And how do I fix it?

Any ideas would be very welcome...

i figured a way to get root access on the us shield tablet with lte

ok here we go..

first thing
when on kikkat (the update before the 5.0.0 ) you MUST HAVE an unlocked bootloader, have custom recovery (i had cwm), and root access!! VERY IMPORTANT!!

what i did after that was first have all my adb stuff set up on my pc.. since i did long ago you have to search for the info to do it.
i dont remmeber .im new to this stuff sorry..lol

next i downloaded the lollipop 5.0.1 ota to my us lte shield tablet

then i went into my custom recovery and backed up my device then installed the ota through my cwm custom recovery

next when my tablet started up i went into bootloader mode to see if my bootloader was lock. mine was unlocked.

after that i followed the thread here

i took a chance cause it said it was only for the wifi version and it didn't say it was for lollipop 5.0.1
but it work!!

[Q] Shield Buttons work parcially topic

I need help. 2 days ago that I have a problem with the buttons of Shield

They work parcially

Nvidia Button: Rather than launching Shield Hub, it makes Shield sleep (but i can shut down and reboot)
Home button doesn't works (No multitask, no Google Now)
Back button: Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
Pause button: Only for Game Mapper

Luckly, A,B,X,Y, joysticks, d-pad, bumpers and triggers, work perfectly

I tried to do a wipe but when I enter recovery mode, i get a message that says "Any command". Anyway, i did a hard reset by the System configurations (and not be solved)

Someone more it has happened this? How i can solve it?

[Q] Shield 2014 or Nexus 7 2013 topic

I am considering getting a new tablet and I am looking at both the Shield and Nexus 7 (2013). Today I can get the Shield for 0 or the Nexus 7 for 8. Both are 16gb, new and not re-certified. I want a quality everyday tablet that will be supported often and timely. I probably will not stream games from my PC to my tablet. I am concerned about some of the edge cracking and wifi issues the shield seems to have (according to what I've read online). That being said I'm also concerned about the Nexus being over a year old with "out dated" specs. Please provide thoughts, suggestions/recommendations, and comments. Thank you.

Shield and HD Audio topic

I've been trying to find out what the DAC is in the Shield Tablet and if it will support high resolution audio but there is nothing on Nvidia's site and any audio related search just goes on about the speakers.

I'm going to load up some 192KHz/24bit FLAC files and see how it goes. Looks like it supports most formats but there is no mention anywhere of high resolution audio support. I hope if does not down sample.

Anyone have any experience?

My EU nvidia shield LTE cant see EU LTE networks topic

My nvidia shield cant get 4g network where my phone does, at first I tought it might be a network problem or SIM problem so i swapped the phone and tablet simcards without any improvement. My oppo find7 can access 4g with both simcards and the nvidia shield with neither of them.

Its the EU model so it should work here, according to the specs it supports all the LTE bands available in spain

¿Does anyone know what could be the problem? ¿ Anyone got 4g properly working?

I am on latest 5.0.1 update.

Is there a way to increase the sensitivity of shield portable? A game I play is not so fast to control with Shield and I have my settings to max, but is there any other way to do it, like manually ?
