I am using this command to backup via adb. It gives a 1 kb .ab file.

Can some one suggest a good backup & restore apk or mod for whatsapp. I have tried various ways by searching in google & tested it but some messages goes missing even after backing up & restoring it or restoring it after changing custom rom.

Unable to use mobile data for WhatsApp , miui browser , and email. topic
I'm unable to surf internet on my mobile browser using mobile data on my mi3. I'm using miui 6 stable china wcdma version. I'm even not able to connect to whatsapp and also email (in miui).I'm able to use my mobile data in other apps like playstore,dolphin browser, google installer and also in mi market also.. please help me to solve this. Like title says, I got issues sending videos trhu whatsapp, like some other users, I'm on.157 LB ,i tried both roms, and i got the same error and this never happened to me on any rom . If any developer can help us to fix this. Regards

With some devices, whatsapp audio record looks very awful, almost unlistenable. I know that the app provide some compression over the file to save bandwith, but the strange thing is that with other devices(Sony, Apple, etc...) the sound quality is just great. With this, i have 2 theories about it:
1- There must be a file with audio profiles that the app could use, just like media_profiles.xml that tells output, bitrate, etc, or...
2- Whatsapp is using a "generic" audio record method, not getting advantage of other audio options the device could offer.
The only problem with the second theory is that if you record a video throught the own app/3rd party, the audio is very clear and good.I've tried to look over system/, data/, etc/ and libs/ to see if there's any file that could lead to solution but nothing came.
Please, someone consider some further investigation about this issue, with i believe many people faces this.

Hi guys. I've been looking around for similar thread but didn't find anything useful.
Could you please tell me is there a way to block receiving messages from an unknown contacts on whatsapp?
Is there any other external app that might do the job and help me? Like app that might help me to hide myself on whatsapp, so that the people whose number I don't have in my contact list can't see me using whatsapp and in that way stop them from sending me messages?
I used a lot of blockers that can be found on market, but none of them helps. Do you by any chance know about any other way that might help, or an app, or anything?
I use Samsung Galaxy S3.

Send a WhatsApp Message programatically. topic
Is there a hack to send a whatsapp message though my app? What I'm looking for, is that when a person sets a message within my app for a contact, I want it to be sent on the contact's whatsapp with the user's permission.
I've tried WhatsApp.com / faq/android/28000012 (sorry cannot post lines, I'm new) with URIs and text as extra, but they just open up the chatbox instead of sending the message.

I was recently sending a video of my awesome goal in fifa 15 via whatsapp. When i try to send the video my whatsapp crashes immediatly. If i try to send it again, it crashes again. Any solutions?

I bought a HTC One M8 2 months ago and I have an issue with Whatsapp and "push-to talk" function. When I want to record a voice note by pressing the "mic icon", the recording stops at a variable time of recording and the message sends itself but my finger still pressing the "mic icon".
The problem appears on a variable recording time (50 min, 2 min, 3 min...). So I have to send my voice note in multiple parts. That's a very annoying issue. I precise that Whatsapp is updated and the HTC firmware and HTC apps too. I didn't have this issue on my other phones (Samsung Galaxy S5, Nexus 5, Huawei Ascend Mate 7..)
The smartphone is not a "Google Edition" so it has Sense on it.
I'm french so I do my best in English... I don't know if my topic is at the right place so don't hesitate to move it.

Increase file size limit in whatsapp topic
Hey friends...toaday i will show you how to increase file size limit in whatsapp!!!i know 16 mb is not enough for some people hence every1 wants to increase it so here i will tell u a simple way to increase file size limit with some simple tweak!!
Basic requirements:--
1) a rooted android phone :-p
2) root explorer
3) pair of hands and a working mind :)
Steps:--
1)open root explorer
2)go to root>data>data(again)>com.whatsapp
3)select 'shared_prefs(last option)'
4)now select 'com.whatsapp_preferences.xml' and open it with a text editor(long press on it to get options)
5)in the buch of texts, search for media_limit_mb value…….and change value from '16' to '1024' or '2048' ….and save it(scrnshot on attchment)
6) restart the phone after you save the edited file and voila! You can send files of 1024 mb or 2048 mb (depends on what you entered) to your friendz!!!
IMPORTANT::-- you may need to re edit the the value after updating whatsapp…(not checked but may be). Also sometimes the value may itself change to 16 after some reboots(rarely happend with me).just edit again and you are good to go!!
