[Q] Logcat broken - adb works topic

Hello,

i got a problem with my logcat. I get no output. I tried "adb logcat" or the app "Logcat Viewer" with root.
What i have done so far:
I installed Xposed and multirom - i also uninstalled both for testing - no changes.
I tried deleting the /dev/logs/

Some infos:
Right now i'm on 4.4.4 (CM 11.0-XNPH44S)
Kernel: 3.4.104~AK.077.OPO.CM11

What can i do? I also got another OnePlus One with the same setup and it's working flawless there...

Thanks for any help

Screen works when off in call. topic

Latest Elemental X Kernel ( did the same on stock before ).
Latest Sinless rom ( did it before I think... not 100% sure ).

When on a call, I can stand in the bathroom in the dark in front of a mirror and see that my screen is in fact "black/off" due to proximity sensor. However, the screen still works.. I can slide my ear down the phone, pull the phone from my face .. screen lights up, and yep, notification's are pulled down. I can also hear it do the little "tick" sound if I move my face around on the screen before removing it from my ear ( the screen was touched, button pressed etc ).

So the screen goes black from the proximity sensor, but still appears to accept "touches". If I turn the screen off while in a call with the power button, this does not happen. Anyone else getting this?

[Q] Screen Sharing to Nexus Player No Longer Works topic

Just wanted to see if anyone else was having a similar issue, and if so if anyone has any thoughts.

I haven't quite pinned down the cause yet, but I've noticed that when I try to share my phone screen with the Nexus Player (using the Chromecast app on my phone), it doesn't seem to work. It will initiate the screen sharing and show a picture that mirrors my phone, but then it's frozen. When I move to a different app or to my homescreen, the picture on the Nexus Player is stuck on the chromecast app.

I did a factory reset, and immediately tried the screen sharing at that point. It did work. I've done that twice now and it seems to be fine just after the reset. I'm not sure what the cause is but I'm trying to narrow it down to some kind of app I'm installing. Possibly Kodi or the Sideload Launcher? ES File Explorer? In any event, it's a pain to isolate since I have to completely wipe the Nexus Player when I encounter the issue.

I have tried a few things to restore screen sharing such as force quitting the casting program on the Nexus Player, along with erasing the cache and data. Doesn't seem to help.

[Q] Allwinner A13 Tablet : volume +/- button works in normal mode but NOT in Recovery topic

Hi XDA! Happy 2015!

I was given an A13 for Xmas. After exploring, everything works fine. I decided to look at it's Recovery, in case I should ever need it. It was then I discovered that, in Recovery, the Vol +/- button fails to function!
When booted into Recovery, the top option, "reboot system now", is highlighted. Vol +/- doesn't move the highlight; thereby excluding me from selecting any other option-
apply update from ABD/ wipe data/ factory reset/ wipe cache partition/ apply update from internal storage/ apply update from external storage/ apply update from cache.
Also, in Recovery mode, there is a line at the bottom of the screen (written in gold colour) saying "E:fopen error /data/miraGSensorOffset.txt".

So, after the supplier refused to help, (I cannot supply them with the order id no.), I have reasoned the problem to be a software issue (as the Vol. button works in Normal mode but not Recovery).

I've decided to root & flash it myself; (I admit that I will have to learn this as I go, as I've only done my Wildfire S & what an experience that was!).

Root checker app says it's not rooted. Before I start though, I know at some point I will probably need to able to boot to Recovery whilst the tablet is off. The issue here is Vol +/- fails when the tablet is off; it powers on normal mode every time, so Recovery can only be reached by: Power on> Settings> Backup & reset> Recovery mode ("Reboot into the system in Recovery Mode. Can clear the data or system upgrade").

Is root & flash the correct approach? And if yes, what about the inability to reach Recovery WITHOUT powering on? Will this not become an issue?

Thanks in advance,
Gerry.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Blaze S in Europe, data works but the phone calls won't work topic

My American friend came to Finland with her T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S Blaze. She is not an expert in technical things but she mentioned that the data (messaging with different messaging apps) works with a Finnish SIM card but the phone calls won't work at all.

I took a look at her phone but didn't find anything strange. Any clue where this issue might come from? The phone is with a stock ROM so it's neither rooted nor flashed with a custom ROM.

Thanks in advance!

[how to]-[nf4 hotspot works !!!] topic

Posting my thread here to hopefully help others and get some comments or replys

SOFTWARE VERSION: L710TVPUOANF4
MODEL NUMBER: SPH-L710T
ANDROID VERSION: 4.4.2

EVERYTHING is pretty much stock on my phone. Never did flash any custom rom. I received the SPH-L710T after making an insurance claim. I originally had the SPH-L710. Anyway, all I have done so far was use ODIN to install the latest .TAR FILE Philz Recovery (only custom recovery I recommend to use period) BIG THANK YOU TO PHIL! You can check Philz Recovery out for yourself and how to root this device. Im not going thru the whole thing on how to root and so on. So I am pretty much running the stock rom NF4 - 4.4.2 - ROOTED Boost GS3.

CONFIRMED to work on SPH-l710T running stock rom out of the box but ROOTED. I used SPCUtility.apk to final get my MSL/SPC that I been reading about the past 4 days and couldn't get it till NOW!!! I attached the .apk for you to download. It did infact work for me and I have the SPH-L710T Boost Mobile. 4.4.2 -NF4 ROOTED with Philz Recovery. took me days of searching till I came across this.
I ran the SPCUtility.apk and it gave me my MSL (SPC) number with out problem! You might wanna write it down. You want to change your APN TYPE..... I tried and it freaking WORKS.... Follow this thread to the T. I had to search in different place for the exact settings but this was very easy! By adding the following word ",Dun" fixed my hotspot. It was very simple. I had to find the APN TYPE option but once I found it was a text box and all I had to add was ,Dun and hit ok. REBOOTED and it work that easy! . AGAIN follow them EXACTLY and I found the exact option APN TYPE.

Okay so Go to dial pad and type ##3282# (##DATA#) and hit EDIT then enter the MSL/SPC number you got by running SPCUtility. Next go to MORE ... scroll down to LTEAPN SETTINGS... select APN2 LTE internet .. MINE WAS ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED JUST SO THATS ALSO NOTED.... ALREADY HAD THE GREEN CIRCLE SELECTED.
About half way down and select APN type and add ,Dun and select OK.
REBOOT AND PROFIT !!!
ENJOY !!!!
Please hit THANK YOU button if I was of any HELP TO YOU!
It would be very appreciated! This took alot of time and research to get this working. I couldnt find anything on the NF4 HOTSPOT that actually work. After I REBOOTED, went straight to my settings and turn HOTSPOT on. TADA Never prompted me about the subscription like it did before. After I turn it on, I connected to it right away without any problems. I even started this thread using my hotspot just to make sure all was working and it sure did! I have not seen any post/threads on a working NF4 HOTSPOT so I hope this helps others!
Please leave some comments or a simple reply!

[Guide] Sprint Htc One | HBOOT 1.57 | Works with AT&T topic

First off, I had absolutely no luck with any of the other methods mentioned on the forum, so I decided to write up how I (finally) managed to get my HTC one to work with an AT&T GoPhone sim card.

1.) Get Sunshine for S-Off, I wasted 3 days trying to find a way around paying for it, but finally caved.
2.) SuperCID: fastboot oem writecid 11111111
3.) Flash the RUU from this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2586704 or here: http://click.xda-developers.com/api/...651.10_RUU.zip
- I had to fastboot oem rebootRUU then fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
- Check to be sure HBOOT is downgraded to 1.44
4.) Be sure to root the device, either using custom recovery or TWRP app from play store
5.) Run the sim unlock helper available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...5&d=1414183159
6.) Here's the one part that isn't widely mentioned for the specific issue I ran into with this unlock: You need a sprint sim card to "trick" the phone into searching for networks.
- Type in *#*#INFO#*#* (*#*#4636#*#*) and change your network to WCDMA preferred
- Be sure that the Sprint sim card is in the phone
- Go to Settings -> Mobile Data -> Network Mode and set to GSM/UMTS Only (You should have no signal or bars with X above them)
- Click on Available GSM networks -> Select Automatically
- Switch the SIM for the AT&T Sim (It will show 'no sim warning') while it is searching and then click on Available GSM networks -> Search networks
- Select AT&T (or Maritime)
- Device will register, however, the settings are lost on restart and I haven't managed to get data yet. (If anyone can help with this, I'd greatly appreciate it!)

[Q] twrp backup works, causes windows driver errors topic

I'm getting the attached errors when running TWRP using:

Code:

  fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-xt1032.img

Here is a summary of the message:

Code:

Device driver software was not successfully installed
      XT1032                  No driver found
USB Composite Device    Ready to use
      MTP USB Device          Failed
Motorola ADB Interface  No driver found

If I flash instead of just booting, I only get the MTP USB Device error. I know that I have working drivers for fastboot & adb, but I'm not sure how relevant they are when the Moto G is in recovery. I just included all errors shown in the message window.

Can I safely ignore the errors?

Here are the details (1st generation Moto G):
* Android 4.4.4
* Kernel version 3.4.42-g67b2f25
* System version 210.12.50.falcon_umts.Telus.en.CA
* Build number KXB21.14-L1.50
* Laptop: Windows 7 64-bit

Background for reference only
-----------------------------
In case this heads off any questions, here is the history and context behind my usage scenario.

I've unlocked my boot loader and wanted to backup the carrier's OS before installing CyanogenMod and/or rooting. The carrier is Koodo Mobile, and I wanted to make a backup rather than download what was available on the web.

"fastboot boot cwm.img" didn't work, so I used "fastboot flash recovery cwm.img" (actual file was recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-falcon.img from http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager). When I tried to go into recovery, I got an android logo with the message "No command".

According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2563599, the Android 4.4 bootloader doesn't work with CWM, and I would have to flash the 4.3 bootloader. Or so it seems to me. Being new to the whole smartphone thing, I decided against doing that and went with TWRP instead (http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/233). I got the same "No Command", and http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=129, indicated that I could not flash TWRP due to its size. Instead:

Code:

  fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0-xt1032.img

It ran and created backup files according my settings (including PDS, as per http://www.reddit.com/r/MotoG/commen...ds_partition):

Code:

  [X] Data (156MB)
  [ ] Cache (11MB)
  [X] System (763MB)
  [X] Boot (10MB)
  [X] PDS (3MB)

  No Encryption                Refresh Sizes
      Storage: Internal Storage (4040MB)

  [X] Enable compression
[ ] Skip MDF generation during backup

The files were located at both /mnt/shell/emulated/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/TA929174HF and /storage/emulated/legacy/TWRP/BACKUPS/TA929174HF. In the Windows Explorer, it was found in "Computer\XT1032\Internal storage\TWRP\BACKUPS\TA929174HF".

I later ran across webpages saying that you should use mfastboot for large *.img files, and that seemed to allow me to flash TWRP onto the Moto G. When I re-did the backup, I only go the MTP message in the device driver error window. Here is the listing of the Windows folder "Computer\XT1032\Internal storage\TWRP\BACKUPS\TA929174HF15-01-04--20-29-45 KXB21.14-L1.50":

[Q] Google Hangouts is unable to send MMS messages, Stock Messenger works fine topic

I am currently in Sweden, and my phone is SIM-unlocked via Sprint's unlocking utility. I am using Comviq as my service provider. Normally, I have Sprint as a provider.

To start off with, here is the application, hardware, and software versions I am using:
Android OS: 4.4.2
Build Number: KOT49H.L720VPUFNG2
Hangout Build: v2.5.81636427

APN Information from comviq's website (http://settings.tele2.com/?operator=...locale=sv_se):
Name - Comviq
APN - 4G.tele2.se
Proxy - Do not set
Port - Do not set
Username - Not set
Password - Do not set
Server - Do not set
MMSC - http://mmsc.tele2.se
MMS Proxy - 130244202030
MMS port - 8080
MCC - 240
MNC - 07
Authentication - PAP
APN type - default, MMS, SUPL

The issue I am having is actually very similar to this issue from last year:
https://productforums.google.com/d/m...c/8WG2j3EGWGkJ

I am completely unable to send MMS messages via the Google Hangouts application, but if I set my default messaging application to the stock messaging application, then my MMS messages go through perfectly fine. If I switch back to Hangouts, the MMS messages. The problem though that I am having, is that even if I specify an APN manually, this does not allow me to send the message either. If I try and edit any of the APN's already listed in Hangouts, and click the menu button and Save or Cancel, it deletes the APN rather than actually saving any data. If I add the APN, it doesn't actually save the APN to use. Hangouts has a list of APNs I guess embedded in their apk, but I can't do anything.

This seems specifically to be an issue with Google Hangouts, since other text messaging applications work perfectly fine with sending MMS messages.

Why doesn't Google Hangouts just follow the provided APN data installed in the Mobile Networks menu? Is there any way to work around this issue?

PureGear DualTek case - Works with Samsung Qi back. topic

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NCJ...=AC_SY200_QL40

Not a bad case for the money. (If you get it at amazon and not from the shark tank VZ store I went to) Nice tight fit with or without the optional Samsung Qi wireless charging battery cover. Smooth white plastic and perfectly non slimy yet grippy TPU all around. Qi charging, NFC, WiFi, LTE, Text and voice service is completely working and unaffected by the case. Plus, nothings modded or hacked up. Warranty's unaffected. Life is sweet.
