[Q] Shield 2014 or Nexus 7 2013 topic

I am considering getting a new tablet and I am looking at both the Shield and Nexus 7 (2013). Today I can get the Shield for 0 or the Nexus 7 for 8. Both are 16gb, new and not re-certified. I want a quality everyday tablet that will be supported often and timely. I probably will not stream games from my PC to my tablet. I am concerned about some of the edge cracking and wifi issues the shield seems to have (according to what I've read online). That being said I'm also concerned about the Nexus being over a year old with "out dated" specs. Please provide thoughts, suggestions/recommendations, and comments. Thank you.
