[Q] Bricked chinese tablet ( Fastboot only ) topic

Hi everyone , I was not sure where to post this so i'm sorry if this is in the wrong place , so i just found a bricked tab and the guy who owned it gave it to me because he said its completely screwed , its a LAVA E-tab z7c . So right now if i try to switch it on , i see a screwed up boot image , half of the screen has random colors and the other half displays android. On holding the power button and the volume down i got to the fastboot mode. I found the stock ROM online and tried to flash it using
1>"fastboot -w "
2" fastboot flash zip update.zip "

OUTPUT -->

root@txjoe:/home/txjoe/Downloads/revoc/a# fastboot flash zip update.zip
sending 'zip' (210762 KB)...
OKAY [ 19.879s]
writing 'zip'...
FAILED (remote: partition table doesn't exist)
finished. total time: 19.881s

Now , i can't really find any custom ROM's or Recoveries for this tab. And im still stuck at fastboot , no adb access !
Can anyone help me out ? is this tablet dead yet ?

LG L9 Fastboot topic

Hey :)

I need some serious help here and I'll be as detailed as possible.

So, here's my problem: I had custom ROM for my LG L9 (P760) from Artas and I used it fine for almost an year and then there was "kernel panic" on the phone. I didn't know what to do so I just restarted my phone and tried to flash that rom again and, long story short I think I bricked it.
I also tried to flash official KDZ from LG over LG Flash Tool and I didn't succed.

Few days later I contaced Artas personaly and he told me what to boot in fastboot and to erase misc and to flash recovery again. I tried everything (installed drivers and all that android stuff) but all I got was "waiting for device".
Later, he told me to try with Ubuntu so I installed Virtual Box and Ubuntu and I followed many tutorials but I still get " waiting for device" in Ubuntu terminal.

He also told me to install ADB universal drivers but I can't because first I have to enable "USB debugging" but I can't because I can't boot my phone.

So, if anyone can tell me or is willing to write me step-by-step guide I'd be very greatful!!!

If you need any more details, just tell me!!

P.S. Meanwhile I bought Galaxy Mega 6.3 but I need that LG because I have MicroSD card that can only work in that phone ()

P.P.S. Sorry for my English

Cache gone! Fastboot help topic

So I accidentally deleted my cache partition of my Kindle HD 6 in fastboot. What a dork!

Code:

C:\kindle>fastboot update
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt

C:\kindle>fastboot erase cache
erasing 'cache'...
OKAY [  0.086s]
finished. total time: 0.086s

C:\kindle>fastboot format cache
formatting 'cache' partition...
Formatting is not supported for filesystem with type 'unknown'.
FAILED ()
finished. total time: 0.022s

C:\kindle>fastboot reboot
rebooting...

finished. total time: 0.015s

C:\kindle>fastboot reboot

^Was the command I entered, and then I rebooted... Now my Kindle is just a happy paper weight that is forever booting up. Any help? I have a factory flash cable coming but I'm unsure how to recreate the cache partition. And I did attempt to, it just said it can't format an unknown filesystem.

Thank you for the help and God bless!

fastboot flash boot boot.img no recovery topic

Why can't I go into recovery whenever I do this step to install cm11/cm12 roms? I can boot into recovery fine in stock roms using either dual recovery or stock kernel flashed from zips. My fastboot command didn't return any error.

[Q] Can't boot into recovery or fastboot topic

Hi,

I recently installed the latest firmware 23.0.1.A.5.77 using Flashtool. Now, when I want to boot my D6603 into either fastboot or recovery it doesn't work and the phone just boots and works normally. I have tried both using the volume up/down button and through adb using:

adb reboot fastboot
and
adb reboot recovery

adb seems to work fine: it recognizes the device, but the boot commands don't work

I don't get the LED indicator and the short vibrating of the phone, it just shows the 'Sony Xperia' screen, then 'Powered by Android' and then it boots. The bootloader is unlocked, can anyone help me with this so I can get root back? Many thanks :)

Nexus 4 Problem: Wont boot into system or recovery, but fastboot and able to flash?!! topic

Very weird behaviour:

1. Phone does not boot up at all - neither system nor recovery (tried 5.1 and 4.4.4 factory images and 2.8.3.0 TWRP as recovery).
2. Can start in fastboot mode and flash factory image but after flashing modem the device is "stuck" in QHSUSB_DLOAD mode.. when I restart into fastboot it continues to flash and finishes the flashing process apparently.
3. When the device is off and plugged in its recognized as "unkown device" or QHSUSB_DLOAD again - no signs of charging at all.

Phone got to me in "bricked" state - would not boot and was only showing red light when plugging in - after loading it for a while (it showed the battery with a lighning inside on screen during charge attempt, but no percentages at all) i flashed latest factory image but that did not help it seems.. =(

Tried "fastboot erase cache" as well...

Any ideas?

[Q] Can S-OFF be done through recovery or fastboot?? USB not working... topic

I would like to update the firmware on my phone as I believe it is preventing my USB port to work and/or charge while it is powered on. I also believe the only way to change the firmware is to have S-OFF so how can I do that if my USB port doesn't work while in the OS. The USB works perfect in fastboot or custum recovery mode. 2.8.3.0 twrp. Can anyone help?? I thought I could flash firmware 6.09.401.12. My phone specs are listed below

[Q] No Download mode, no fastboot mode, no hard reset mode topic

Dear all,

Thanks for reading this post first. I have a G3 D855 with a unknown ROM inside (as i bought it from others, i don't know what the ROM is, but it is obviously a custom ROM). I try to flash a stock ROM and search the method from the net, but no method i can use for the following reasons:

1. i can't go into download mode (tried turn off phone, hold volume+ and plug in cable method)
2. i can't go into recovery mode with any key combination (used the method online, the screen will light up but LG logo won't show, there light off, keep looping like this)
3. i can't hard reset with any key combination
4. as you can see above, i can't get into fastboot mode with any key combination (but i do can use program in Win7 to call the phone into fastboot mode)
5. When i connect the phone (turned on) with Windows 7, it can recognised as LG G3, and i can explore the internal storage. But if i try to connect it for the Download Mode, then it can't be recognised, just "dang dang" sound from the computer. (i have installed the latest LG drivers). My phone can't be recognised in Ubuntu.

So, i try to figure out what has happened to my phone, and after searching for few days, i believe that i may flash sbl1.img, aboot.img, rpm.img, tz.img to get back the above modes for my phone (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2582142). I would like to know if my thought is correct at this point.

If yes, can i just make my phone into fastboot mode with the help of the Windows Program to flash back those img, or can i use Flashify to flash those image?

Thanks for all your help.:)

Booting to fastboot topic

Hi,

After doing a factory reset, I disabled root in SuperSU. Upon restarting, the device refuses to boot and is stuck on booting animation.

I was trying to get into fastboot but had no success yet.

Can anyone help me with this?

[Q] My Fire won't enter Fastboot mode. topic

I am trying to install Cyanogenmod on my kindle fire. However, before I was able to start flashing any images or anything like that, I ran into a problem (although this is probably the best time to have a problem). My Kindle Fire HD 8.9 won't enter fastboot mode.
I'm running Windows 7.
I installed the android SDK.
I installed Amazon's drivers for the Kindle Fire.
When I type in "Adb drivers" into the command line, I get my serial number.
When I type in "fastboot drivers", I don't get anything back.
When I type in "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" , I get "waiting for device", I plug in my Kindle Fire HD 8.9, but it just says at "waiting for device".
I've tried typing ""adb reboot-bootloader", but that reboots the device normally.
I've read that I don't need a fastboot cable for the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 (unlike the 7).
What am I doing wrong?

[Q] Moto XT1097 AT&T fastboot loop. topic

I tried to update my moto XT1097 AT&T locked version and it did not complete the update successfully. It goes until flashing the boot.img, failed and don't go any further. I supposed it is because it is a locked phone. After this, the phone went to a fastboot mod loop. Even If I tried to sideload the orignial rom or use the fsaboot comandts to restore the original rom it remains in this mode.

It generates a first error when I tried to issue the command "fastboot flash partition gpt.bin" returning this:

target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'partition' (32 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.004s]
writing 'partition'...
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.013s

And the phone display shows "hab check failed for primary_gpt"

I am issuing this command from the folder where the files of the original rom are located.

I tried to use a different gpt.bin file, from other ROMs and the same thing happen. I also tried another Lollipop ROM and not luck at all.

What I understand is that the gpt is the partion table that indicates where begins and where finish the diferent partitions into the phone, so I guess the problem could be resolve if I can change the gpt file into the phone for the original one.

I have tried to follow with the rest of the instalation but the motoboot and the boot files also are rejected and the system files are denied due an authentication problem.

The roms I have tried are:

ATT_XT1097_4.4.4_KXE21.187-38_cid1_CFC.xml
TMO_21.21.42.victara_tmo.tmo.en.US
4.4.4_to_5.0-11OTA

And the first one I used, which reach the same stage every time is:

RETBR_XT1097_5.0_LXE22.46-17_cid12_CFC.xml

I really appreciate any help and ideas you can give me to get my phne back to kitkat. I am not an expert but I am willing to do and learn what it takes

Unlocking the bootloader without fastboot and without wiping topic

Hi all,

A few of us are working to unlock the bootloader of the Nexus 6 without using fastboot (similar to what we've done with past Nexus devices in this thread), and it would help us greatly if a few of you could contribute. All we need is two dumps of your "sp" partition -- once when your bootloader is unlocked, and once when it is locked.

For those that have already unlocked their bootloader would be willing to help out, here is how to do it:

1) With the bootloader unlocked, dump the sp partition by typing in the following command (either via an adb root shell, or in a terminal emulator in Android with root):

Code:

dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sp of=/sdcard/sp-unlock.img

2) Reboot into the bootloader and re-lock your bootloader (using fastboot), then re-dump the partition (again, using an adb root shell or in a terminal emulator with root):

Code:

dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sp of=/sdcard/sp-lock.img

3) Flash back the unlocked sp image so that your bootloader returns to being unlocked without wiping anything:

Code:

dd if=/sdcard/sp-unlock.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/sp

4) Post those two images in this thread.

Thanks!

[Q] Stock boot.img to flash via fastboot topic

Hi,
i have a Z1C with rooted stock-rom 14.2.a.1.142 (Android 4.3) and Recovery from DoomLord (CWM).
i tried to make a system-Upgrade, but it fails in cwm with error "failed to mount .../update_package". The file is present in this location, but i can't manually mount this "image".
searching about this message says me, that the flashmode can't be entered, seems that boot.img with cwm overrides that. now i search a stock-recovery/kernel with this mode to upgrade regularly.

i found also this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2699858
and coverted the kernel.sin (9,9MB) with actual flashtool (linux) to kernel.elf (also 9,9MB). I tried to flash it, but get error that its not a valid boot-image. the boot.img from DoomLord ist 21MB

a direct flash via flashtool seems not possible because i cannot enter flashmode

regards Frank

Device will not flash any recovery in fastboot topic

My device decided to randomly encrypt itself after using the CM12 port that is available. How this happened is beyond me. Anyhow, I tried to do a factory reset... Nothing would mount because the device was encrypted. So, I thought it would be a great idea to flash a different recovery. By now, I have flashed over 6 recovery images (all different) even the stock. Fastboot says that the transfer went through successfully only to find when I try to boot into recovery, it boots into fastboot instead.

Yes the device is unlocked.
I don't know if there is a ROM on it, but when i try to start it normally, it wont boot past the splash screen (before the boot animation)

Please help, as this is the only phone I am stuck with for a long time

fix for fastboot on windows 8.1 topic

There is a fix for people running Windows 8.1 who want to fastboot flash their phones.
It is fairly technical, so DO NOT attempt if you don't know what you are doing.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

Locate and then click the following subkey in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\UsbFlags

On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
Type 0BB40FF00100
for the name of the new key. (those are zeroes)

On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click “Binary Value”.
Type SkipBOSDescriptorQuery
for the name of the Binary Value, and then press ENTER.

Right-click SkipBOSDescriptorQuery, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 01 00 00 00 , and then click OK.

Exit Registry Editor.

Unplug and re-plug your phone (if it was plugged in)

I hope this helps!

SOURCE: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/usbcoreblog/...h-code-43.aspx

I had to do a little work to get this fix to work, because when the phone is plugged in and in fastboot mode, it doesn't list a VID/PID/REV in device manager. The VID is 0BB4 (for HTC) / the PID is 0FF0 (which I am assuming is the Vivid, but only in fastboot mode. The phone in normal mode gets a PID of 0CBB) / the REV number is 0100 (for my phone. If this fix doesn't work, then this is most likely the reason: you have a different REV number.)
