Nexus 6 Quality Issues (2 out of 2 phones) topic

So, I bought a Nexus 6 for my wife and at first it was great. But a few weeks later, she was complaining about the camera. I check it out and there is definitely something wrong. It seems that sometimes when the camera focuses, the optical image stabilizer would jump around. It moves so much, that it seems to hit it's limits and you hear it "click". Makes recording videos useless. Worse than having no stabilizer at all.

We're beyond the 14-day return period for Sprint, so I do an advanced exchange RMA with Motorola. Two days later, the replacement phone arrives. It looks like a brand-new sealed box. But when I take the phone out, I see the back cover is separating from the phone. How does the phone like this even get put into a box? Unless the back cover separated after it was placed inside? I didn't even bother to try to turn it on and contacted Motorola via online chat. We'll see what the next steps are, but so far, I'm not impressed with the quality control. Customer service response is pretty good so far.

CM11 Mic quality is bad topic

I tried using CM12, mic quality is good and "ok google" picks up fast.
However on the latest CM11 nightly build, "ok google" doesn't pick up most of the time. I tried recording my own voice and heck the quality is bad.

Any idea how to fix it? Reason I am using CM11 is because I kinda prefer kitkat over lollipop as of now :p

CM Camera Quality topic

Hi CM camera quality seems to be very low, especially when taking photos in low light.

Does anyone know of mods to improve quality or re enable BIONZ?

Or maybe a port of stock camera+a drm hack? Anyone tried the stock camera on CM with the new DRM hack?

Crappy close up / zoomed i n camera quality? topic

So I love my nexus 6 and the quality of the camera taking normal distance shot is great but what not so great, at least for me, is the crappy quality of photos taken up close or zoomed in.

If I try to take a picture up close, it's blurry and doesn't focus. If I try to take a picture from a distance and try to zoom in to focus, it doesn't work either.

There are many circumstances that I need up close pictures taken such as when I use my fitnesspal app where I have to take shots of barcodes to add to my nutrition log. I also work In IT and use my phone to take pictures of the back of equipment in tight spaces such as the server room.

Does anyone else experience what I am experiencing with close up pictures not focusing?

[Q] How's the audio quality through headphones? topic

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the audio quality through headphones in terms of quality and loudness. If we had root, this wouldn't be an issue because with a few mods I could have it up to whatever I like it to be. But since there currently isn't root, how does it sound on stock? Also, is there a volume warning and does it go away until the next reboot?

[Q] WhatsApp Audio Quality Record Solution topic

Hello,

With some devices, whatsapp audio record looks very awful, almost unlistenable. I know that the app provide some compression over the file to save bandwith, but the strange thing is that with other devices(Sony, Apple, etc...) the sound quality is just great. With this, i have 2 theories about it:

1- There must be a file with audio profiles that the app could use, just like media_profiles.xml that tells output, bitrate, etc, or...

2- Whatsapp is using a "generic" audio record method, not getting advantage of other audio options the device could offer.

The only problem with the second theory is that if you record a video throught the own app/3rd party, the audio is very clear and good.I've tried to look over system/, data/, etc/ and libs/ to see if there's any file that could lead to solution but nothing came.

Please, someone consider some further investigation about this issue, with i believe many people faces this.

Thank you.

Bluetooth Quality topic

Is my phone defective or have more people noticed how bad the quality of audio is when playing through bluetooth? I've had a lot of phones and this is the first one that sounds like this. Everything plays perfectly fine as far as the connection goes, but every song sounds noticeably bad. The best comparison I can think of, considering I don't know much about audio terminology and the difference between 320kbps and 192kbps, is when using an auxiliary cable it's like a 1080p HD video and when streaming via bluetooth it's like a 360p video. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Terrible Microphone quality topic

Okay, so I'm getting annoyed with this phone now. I've had it 5 days, this one is a replacement because the previous one arrived with a damaged (scuffed) camera.

Aside from my other thread asking about the battery, I'm not sure if I have a problem with my main microphone - not the one on the camera. The one used for voice recording etc.

The sound on it is SO low, I have to pump up the volume to full just to barely hear it.

My family members all have a Moto G and that mics quality isn't great, but I figured for a flagship device this mic should be good? Unless I have a faulty mic?

I might try a factory reset to see if that does anything, unless anyone has ideas?

Or should I just return it?

Poor call quality topic

Does the G2 in general have crap call quality? I've got a pair of LS980, one on Ting, and one of Ringplus--both sound like crap, both sound heavily compressed and robotic; people say I sound garbled and echoey. The microphones on both though, I've tested by recording myself, I've tested by calling my voicemail and recording new greetings, and all that sounds truly pristine.

I'd like to think it's just crappy Sprint service, but on Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile in this area (on different phones) the call quality was excellent, no issues. Maybe just Ting and Ringplus to blame? Maybe the ls980 is just crap for call quality? I do not know but am very concerned.

Maybe I should try T-mobile and see how that sounds? How much slower the data speeds are since I'll be forsaking LTE? Is it reasonable to convert an ls980 over to Boost Mobile (their plans are quite fetching nowadays)?

Any insight, recommendations, or mad fresh knowledge drops would be appreciated. Thanks!
