[Q] Signing as a system app - failed to install - CyanogenMod topic

Hi!

I'm preparing a plugin for a vendor of ROM (a small phone manufacturer) and I need this plugin to have system permission. I've tested this on a rooted Cyanogenmod install by putting the app into /system/priv-app directory and it works.

Taking this a step further, I signed the application with Cyanogenmod platform keys from the source repository (platform.pk8 and platform.x509.pem). I've successfully verified that the key used to sign release build is indeed the one from platform.x509.pem.

When I try to install this application via "adb install" I get the following error: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_INSTALL_LOCATION]

Investigating further, it seems that installation of applications signed with platform key is not allowed (anymore): http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...-to-user-space
Looking in the source of PackageManagerService.java in the current Android source[1], I don't see this restriction, but I doo see it in CyanogenMod source tree[2] with this commit[3].

The question is: is this the correct approach for non-CM ROMs? What is the preferred way to work around this for CM (apart from building a custom ROM and removing this piece of code, that is)?

App updates fail to install - "connection with device is lost" [SOLVED] topic

I was having issues updating some apps within the Gear Apps Store, the error message "Gear app not installed connection to device is lost" even though there was a working Bluetooth connection and everything was functioning normally.

I tried:

Rebooting both the watch and the phone
Checking and trying various comms settings
Deleting cache and data for the Gear App Store
Re-installing the Gear App Store itself

After a lot of head scratching I was resigning myself to perform a factory reset of the Gear S.
I got it to work by simply uninstalling the app that needed the update, (in my case it was one of the clocks) and then re-installing it. All now working as it should!

The error message is completely misleading and it will get you believing it's a connection issue which it clearly isn't.

I thought I would share this with you in case you came across this problem.

Hey guys, hope someone can help me.

I factory reseted my note 3 today, my Knox is 0x1 but my system custom is official... I can install all normally, like S health, s translator, kids mode etc, but when I try to install Knox app, the app opens and show an animation, after a message asking for wait a minute, and after that the app simply closes, and when I reopen, it do the same... Can it be because of the Knox 0x1? I believe that isn't 'cuz I remember that I can install it before...

[Q] V500 recovery install issue. topic

First of all let me make clear that I have installed recovery(TWRP) on the same device once. But I had to completely unroot(removing TWRP). Now that I'm again rooted with Stock ROM v4.4.2 and model number as V50020d. I tried to install TWRP(source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8267&nocache=1) from POST#1 and Step#3, but failed. I edited the .bat file to run with model number, v50020d. It ran every command, rebooted. But what I could see was system recovery. What's the problem here?

I am using the moto g falcon (xt1032). I am using CWM for the moto G the latest one from their website. First I could not mount system however if I format it I can.
I have wiped and formatted all the other data as well in-case it helps. I tried to install the CM12 rom from here:

using sideload returning the following dialog:

Pushing the file on gives a very similar error of:

I have also tried TWRP which returns the same error however without the status 1.
Thanks in advance for any help, I have spent hours looking for solutions however status 1 is the most rare error.
I have re-downloaded it a few times, in-case it was a bad download.

[Q] Internal Storage problem after clean install (Xperia T & CM12) topic

I tried to do a clean install of CM12 by whiteneo. In addition to factory reset i also did a system and internal storage wipe (NOT SD CARD but one of two partitions in which the storage of an android is divided, in particulary the one dedicated to data).
Everything went well , the rom works...but when i tried to open camera , it said "cannot take picture without an sd card", so i tried to move an app to internal storage and the operation failed. In settings the voice move to sd doesn't appear. But at the same time i can see the content of internal storage that only contains two folder "lost+found" and "TWRP".
It's like my phone can't see the interal storage.
Any solutions ??? THANKS!!

How to install OTA? topic

I've rooted, installed TWRP, installed custom kernel but otherwise on stock KitKat. I just received an OTA update notice. Tried updating it and got stuck at TWRP, installed the stuck fix and it boots back into the rom fine.

How can I install the OTA update? Or get the latest stock rom to be installable via recovery?

Could you please advise me about How to check Kernel version and install Kernel ? I've facing on battery fast draining without any running application. 40% losses while my phone is idle status in 6 hours. I've fix with flash a new firmware but the problem still living (it normal around a week then happen again).

Hi everyone so i tried installing twrp on my lg g pad 8.3 4.4.2. v50020d
And i kept getting the same error when trying to go into recovery.

So i thouth i could fix it and go back to normal with lg support tool but everytime i use lg support tool it stuck on 4% after the tool downloaded the nessesary files first i tougth that i could be that i didn't have enauth space on my device so i i did a factory reset but that made everything wors every time i try to boot my device now it goas automaticly to recovery but there is no recovery to go to .

So i puted my g pad in download mode and tried fixing it with the lg support tool but it still stuck on 4% and asks me to retry after i reboot my device.

The only thing that it can do is go into download mode and lg support tool recognises my device
