[Q] Some cell problem (I9305) topic

Hello guys, i wanna ask..
Here's the thing, i've dropped my 9305, then it comes out making a problem, um.. it shows up emergency calls only.
So my phone is not my local S3 (i9300) ive got it from a friend. Can't go to samsung center, and then i've repaired it in some locals service center (unoffic), and the problems gone (RIL or data or cell network).
And now i flashed some custom rom, carbon and nameless. so the problem is in both rom it not reading my sims again..
My conclusions is :
1. the repair shop is changin parts not the one of 9305, maybe it's 9300 one.
Is there any workaround of this prob? i hope u guys can help me, thanks in advance.
And im just thinking. maybe i can flash 9300 modems to get my RIL back...

Some thoughts on G3 topic

Overall I like the phone, but I have a few gripes. Maybe some of you agree, and maybe some of you know some solutions.

Much better than the Xperia z3v I had at first. The Xperia had a few odd things about it that bugged me, and the lack of root was getting to me. That is what made me switch.

But it did have much better battery life... I would have 50 to 60 percent battery when I returned home, the G3 will be below 20 percent most days.

The keyboard has a one handed mode, but its prediction and correction are not good. I somehow miss the space key and get run on words all the time, it's been a little frustrating. I know of no third party apps that have a one hand mode though.

The auto brightness is better than the Xperia but still not as good as it can be, it requires too much attention. It limits it's range and trays to be adjustable but it doesn't work well.

Its size has put it over my comfortable one handed use size. The one handed mode helps a bit though. Can't really do much about that. It seems to be the trend.


Its close to being a great phone but held back a bit. Maybe there are solutions to most of my woes.

Hello,

I'm making a presentation about flashing Custom-ROMs, especially the HD2, and have some basic questions:

• Can't you just install an Android over the SD-Method (via leoimg.nbh) just like flashing a Stock-ROM?


• How can I install an Android with MagLdr without CWM-Recovery? Can you install .zip with this way or do I need CWM-Recovery everytime with MagLdr?

I am using the normal method, but I just want to know what for other ways are possible theoretically.

I will get a xperia l from my bro tomorrow and want to Root and Flash CM12 lollipop then
But before that i got some questions about the bootloader, because i rooted and flashed just for one time a Samsung Galaxy ace 3.

1. have i to Root the phone before unlocking bootloader or after that? (Wanna use RootGenius)
2. do i need a new recovery like Cwm or can i flash the new Rom zip with the unlocked bootloader?
3. if unlocking dont work: someone got a link for flashing cwm using odin?

[Q] I have some simple questions about the storage/emulated folder that need answers topic

The longer I have my Shield Tablet, the internal storage space seems to slowly vanish more and more. I have been constantly clearing cache, as well as uninstalling more and more apps. The entire internal storage folder (labeled storage/sdcard0), takes up a total of only 3.77 GB according to ES File Explorer, yet I have less than 2 GB free. I have noticed there is a folder labeled: storage/emulated. Within this folder are "0" and "legacy"... Both of these folders appear to be complete clones of the sdcard0 folder (each are exactly 3.77 GB as well). All three of these folders add up to equal the total storage used on the internal storage. So can I really only use a third of the internal storage since everything is duplicated 3 times? Is it safe to delete the contents of either of the 2 folders within storage/emulated? What is the purpose of these folders?

[Q] New to the ZU and Sony in general I need some help please! topic

So I'm no stranger to this but I've mainly used devices on Verizon and all of which were always fully unlockable and s-off etc etc, mainly I've used HTC devices, the Samsung devices I've used were blessed by Adam Outler, so my point is anything as far as flashing ROMs goes was just fastbooting a recovery did the trick and flashed a ROM and done. When I added a gsm device to the line up I got the Nexus 5 than got the Oneplus One, than picked one of these up for fun because love love live gigantic big F U screens haha.. So the Nexus and Oneplus were the same deal. The Z Ultra is the US LTE gsm unlocked c6806 variant stock not the GPE. So my buddy told me to dial a number via my dialer and see if its bootloader unlockable and it was so I followed Sony's bootloader unlock method and it was successful!!! Woohoo!!! But... This is where I ran in to some snags. Me being me I jumped right in to fastboot and I fastbooted Team Win Recovery the latest one 2.8.3.0 and it was successful as far as the terminal output goes, but when I tried to boot to recovery I noticed I lost my violet LED and all methods to boot to recovery failed.. I thought being unlocked fastbooting a recovery would be no problem but in my case it wasn't.. It took a day of messing around when I finally ran the ZU dual recovery with TWRP and Philz and that worked. I don't know why but it did and now I'm able to boot to both recoveries.. So I rooted with the latest SuperSU and boom I have root no problems! So now my next confusion is flashing ROMs.. I made a nandroid backup and tested it to make sure it did restore and everything was good and it was. So I went ahead and flashed the CM12 fxp build from December 31st on December 31st and flashed a Gapps package and after a few minutes and it booted up no problem. I DID NOT fastboot the boot.img from the zip first I just flashed the ROM flashed the Gapps and it works with no problem, the kernel is indeed the Cyangon kernel built on Dec 31st root@ubuntu blah blah... That's the ROM I've been on since than and have no problems and I haven't updated yet because there has been so significant changes since than so I found no need to. Why do every ROM threads state to fastboot the boot.img from the zip first than flash the ROM and Gapps? Is this for locked bootloaders only? Am I missing something? So yeah to sum it up basically, if I'm bootloader unlocked #1 how come I can't just fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.8.3.0.img and why doesn't that work? #2 How come when I came from stock 4.4.4 Sony firmware and flashed the ROM and Gapps without fastbooting the boot.img and that worked no problem? I'm trying to understand how Sony devices work so I don't run in to any issues. Sony works slightly different than what I'm use to. Oh also every time I looked for this flashtool people talk about the links are all bad... Please if someone can thoroughly enlighten me I would sincerely appreciate it. Hey,

I have a unrooted z3 I don't really want to root my phone.
But I want to be able to use remote play at work.
Yes they have wifi but everybody using it its not fast and disconnects
I would love to be able to either connect to wifi and 3g/4g at the same time
I understand that Sony has capped the remote play to only allow wifi which is quite annoying
So is there a solution to use just 3g/4g or combine the both so remote play knows I'm connected to wifi.

Any help or advice would be very grateful

I got the rooted and the CWM recovery installed but for some reason, it didn't topic

I got the micromax a311 phone rooted and the CWM recovery installed but for some reason, it didn't appear to have installed the SU Binary.

When I boot the phone, it says "Unlocked" but it doesn't have the usual "Tampered" word. I used the Root Checker app and it says its not rooted .

Any idea how I can manually install the SU Binary?

Help - Looking for Some Direction - Updating Firmware, s-off needed? topic

Hi everyone, I'm Josh and I'm a long time reader of XDA. I'm really struggling with the next steps on my HTC one despite reading ton's of information on XDA and many other sources. I could use some help / clarification.

I recently purchased an HTC One m7 ATT version. I've rooted, installed SuperSU, TWRP and unlocked the phone. I was stuck on choosing a rom but I've hit a new snag. I was going to try ViperOne but noticed they insist you install the latest firmware updates first. Here's where I'm lost. I'm running the stock version that came with my phone when it was locked.
Kitkat 4.4.2, Sense 6
FW# - 5.12.502.2
Hboot - 1.57
Radio - 4m.27.3218.14

I can't seem to get the OTA's, how do you get OTA's, do you have to run official att service sim like gophone? Or can you use straight talk like I currently have? Or do you not even need a sim for OTA's? I don't currently have a sim in the phone, was waiting to get all this sorted first. Will OTA's break root? Would it be beneficial to turn the phone into international version to get OTA's faster and would I lost the 4g lte abilities of phone if I did this?

How do I go about putting these firmware updates on, is s-off required even if you use a signed RUU from "androidruu dot com" for example?
I would like to get the latest official firmware releases on the phone and get it updated to kitkat 4.4.4 from the official releases and then put a custom rom on of my choice.

Is any of this even necessary? Are firmware updates included with the Rom's? How is an RUU different than a rom?

Someone, if possible please help me get this all sorted out, I'm so confused, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Okay so I tried to root my one plus one in somehow something went wrong it now says I have no OS and I tried using ABD to flash a new ROM. But it said the phone is not unlocked and when I try to unlock using the toolkit it doesn't work because the phone just gets stuck at boot screen. I do have twrp and I have a little usb stick one side is normal USB and the other is micro so it fits in my phone but the one plus does not recognize it when I connect it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Need some help regarding RUU and OTA update topic

Okay so been some time since I've been on here and since I have got a oneplus one and I am selling my M7.

I was rooted and running tickdroid 8.0 I think it was, 4.2.2 as I didn't feel the hassle to update it etc.

Now I managed to get back to stock by flashing the stock RUU and my software currently stands at 4.1.2

I searched for an update but it says it's up to date? The phone has stock recovery etc I just want to update it to the latest firmware before I sell it. So any help to get it up to kitkat would be appreciated

Hello everyone,

I'm a long-time member but seldom poster; owned several Samsung/Android devices in the past and rooted/installed custom ROMs in all of them, so I'm a not a newbie, have read the FAQs, searched, etc. I just got an I337M on my Fido renewal and was somewhat overwhelmed by warnings about requiring different approaches to rooting depending on the basebands, etc. Anyway, I have a couple of questions I did not find adequately answered and I hope you guys would be so kind to help. :)

In the course of composing this post, I took the plunge to root using CF-Auto-Root and install TWRP 2.8.3.0 - I guess Knox is now tripped and the warranty on my week-old phone is gone - oh well. Next on the agenda is to:
1) Unlock my phone;
2) Try to improve cell reception with a different modem (I have noticed I seldom have more than 2-3 bars while I have 2 other different devices in the same room on Koodo with full signal strength);
3) Flash @Danvdh's awesome 5.0.1 Lollipop GPE ROM.

My questions:
1) To unlock, it seems I have to downgrade to 4.2.2. first. @veryluckyguy suggests to get the MDJ ROM and only extract/flash the modem.bin and follow the rest of the instructions. Does the modem.bin get flashed over with any new complete ROM I flash or are they separate things? Will I lose the unlock when I flash a new ROM?
2) Are modems generally interchangeable across Android versions? For example, can I flash a 4.x modem in 5.0?
3) Anyone have experiences with poor reception on Fido/Rogers and solve it by flashing in different modem? If so, which?
