[Q] Kies "cannot access the model information server" topic

I've been trying to update to lollipop via Kies3 for an hour or so now and i keep getting a "cannot access the model information server" error message before the update can begin. After googling the error i have disabled my firewall, tried without SD card, Sim and even tried it in safe mode with networking! Has anyone had the same issue when trying to update and if so how did you fix it?

Demo model? topic

The LG G Watch is on sale just about everywhere at the moment where I live, but almost everywhere it's out of stock. A shop near me has a demo model so I wonder, if I can get it cheap, is it worth it? Can I expect problems with it?

As far as I know, the screen does not burn in. It is constantly plugged in, so the battery should be ok as far as I know. Ofcource I'll check for scratches, etc. But what else should I look at?

[Q] Regarding the AT&T i257 model topic

I just got an unlocked AT&T i257 S4 mini. I am now finding out that there is no established way to root this model. Apparently I should have done more research, it just never even occurred to me that I wouldn't be able to root it.

I'm not particularly worried about flagging knox (I don't think). I won't be trying to claim any warranties. Tripping knox won't affect the function of the phone at all will it?

What would happen if I tried to flash the firmware for another S4 mini, like the i257m or something? Would that straight-up brick the phone? They can't be that different can they? Also, why is there no stock firmware available for the AT&T i257? When might that be available? Don't they have to release that stuff?

I just bought a Nexus 5 from a guy who sold it to me as the D821 variant - which is the one that I want.

Indeed, on the back of the phone, underneath the LG logo, the device has MODEL LG-D821 written, and when I check in Settings > About Phone > Model, it simply says " Nexus 5 ". However, when I boot into FASTBOOT (loading up while holding volume down and power button), the third line says: Variant - hammerhead D820(HJ) 16GB.

This has thrown me a little. I'm currently using a US T-Mobile sim card and it is picking up LTE here in NYC. This has again got alarm bells ringing as I didn't think this was possible with the D821. My assumption at this point is that it's a D820 unit with a refurbished D821 cover on the back. Is this possible? I can't seem to find any trace of D820(HJ) online - specifically the HJ annotation.

Anybody help me please. I can just find SM-7102 or SM-7105. Mine isn't that.

[Q] Phone soft bricked - SHV-E160K (16GB Korean Model) topic

While updating firmware via ODIN , because of USB connectivity failure it is failed.
Now exclamation mark coming in the ODIN mode. (not able to flash any firmware via ODIN tool)..

I am suspecting '.PIT' table might be corrupted in my phone (SHV-e160K).

Please tell me where I can download .pit file SHV-E160K...??

Has anyone tried to root the Sprint variant sm-t807p? Bought this tablet thinking there was gonna be development for it and come to find out there is none at all except for the WiFi only version which really sucks . and I bought it pretty much for WiFi so if there is a root method that breaks LTE it wouldn't matter at all cuz my phone tethers to my tablet so there is no worries . thanks

I have a ATT plan and just purchased a Verizon HTC one m8 unlocked (i suppose every verizon phone is unlocked).

I have normal calls and texts. But no data connection. Do you guys think this is an APN problem or I will never get data on my device due to some other crazy reason? I appreciate any thoughts.

[Q] Motorola Xoom Wifi MZ604 Australian Model Custom Rom topic

Firstly I apologise if this question has been posted and answered before, I can't locate it on these forums.
I have an Australian release Motorola Xoom Wifi MZ604 with a stock ROM version 4.0.4 which has started running slowly and I want to update it to the latest Android. This is my first crack at messing around with Android operating systems, but I have plenty of experience with Windows. I found many tutorials on this forum about rooting and installing custom roms but most of these posts are from around 2012 and most of the important file links such as Xoom One Click and Xoom Universal Root no longer exist. If anyone is still using Xoom can you please repost the tools required and let me know which Custom ROM works best so I dont have to reinvent the wheel. Any step by step you can point me in the direction of would also be helpful. Thanks :good:
