[help] glass cracked, won't turn off! topic

So my nexus 4's glass screen shattered today :( and also the digitiser broke. The lcd still works and the rest of the phone seems to be fine.

Anyway, for some reason the phone is automatically restarting after I hold the power button for 10 secs to force power off. Also the phone boots fine into lollipop and with what little part of the digitiser that works I can access the notification bar and go into settings meaning its operating ok as far as I know.

I have no clue how to diagnose what's causing this, please help!!!

Thanks in advance

z3 compact, phone cracked in my hand topic

People have been saying they left their phone, came back and it was cracked. Well I was using my phone, heard an odd "tick" noise, flipped my phone over, and it was cracked. One vertical crack, and a small horizontal crack running from the rim to the camera lens..

Currently on phone with Sony support, hopefully they won't be dicks.

Had phone just over 2 months, in that time it's been used extensively, no issues yet.

[Q] Cracked screen and usage topic

Hi everyone. I have learned a lot from the forums over the years and have been on here since my very first android device (by way of introduction, I don't think I have ever posted). I did use the search and found threads talking about replacing broken screens on the 10.1 2014 but none addressed my actual question.

I found my device with a hairline crack in the lower portion of the screen, running from just to the right of the back button to about an inch and a half to two inches up the right side of the device. I have seen that the screen is glued on the edges and that the digitizer is not completely glued to the LCD. However, I have too much dust and cat hair and stuff around to be sure of getting a completely clean replacement job done.

Since the crack seems to be complete, edge to edge, and I do have the tablet in an otterbox case to reduce flexing, should it be fine for use until the price of the LCD/Glass combo comes down in price? So far, running my finger and stylus over the area there seems to be no reduction in function, and the LCD underneath is completely intact. I have a screen protector over the screen, so I cannot even feel the crack. (In case anyone was curious how it happened in an otterbox, I was overconfident and threw it into my purse without the screen shield on it, and something in my purse pressed on the edge of the screen)

I saw a lot of talk about replacing the screen, but no comments on anyone continuing to use the device with a crack in it. Thanks for reading, I know I can be long winded.

[Q] Get data from cracked Nexus 4 topic

Red line to show where screen is cracked
I have a Nexus 4 in front of me with a diagonal crack from top left to bottom right corners of the screen.
The touch screen only responds on the upper half of the phone.
I have been tasked with getting the images, videos, music etc. from this phone, however as I am unable to unlock the phone I am finding it pretty difficult!

Is there any way to get the data from the phone using either software or hardware hacks?
I know there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on this forum, any information is appreciated, even if I have to open up the phone and start cutting wires!

Thank you,
- Pano
