Samsung S5 from Amazon topic

Hi I have purchased a Samsung S5 from Amazon. It has come from Hong Kong and was packaged as If it was legit.
My query though, is the fact that when I go into settings, About device...If I scroll down, just under build number it says United Arab Emirates Tra ID: followed by a load of numbers and then underneath it TRA ID it says TA: then a load of numbers .
What I would like to ask is, will I have any problems in the UK with this phone because the build number says United Arab Emirates.
Many thanks for any replies

[Q] Cant downgrade to original kitkat firmware from Lollipop topic

Hi folks, I have recently updated my Note 3 SM-N9005 from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Lollipop using the BL, CSC, CP AND PIT Files. But I didnt like Lollipop, lots of bug like no NFC, alarm doesnt work with flip cover, gps issue, etc.. So flasked original firmware (O2 Germany) with odin 9 but no luck. After successful installation my Note 3 just stuck at Galaxy Note 3 screen. Even tried factory reset, wipe data not still stuck at the welcome screen. Is there a way to install kitkat original firmware?

[Q] Best site to buy a battery from. Pad & dock topic

Hey, so I just picked up an Asus TF101 at a killer deal from someone and I noticed the tablet battery itself only lasts 2 hours, I haven't charged the dock fully yet but doing that tonight, but I'm guessing it's going to run pretty low as well.
I am planning a trip to somewhere is minimum power outlets and will need to put in new batteries. Anyone have any recommendations for sites where I can pick up some cheap batteries? I live in Canada, but I might be going to the states soon so I can easily get it shipped there.
Thanks!

[Q] Bought used phone, won't activate with new sim from verizon topic

Hey M8 crew!

New to the M8, just bought the phone from swappa. Apparently it has root/s-off/some lollipop build installed on it. Clean ESN.

Took it into verizon to activate it on my line, but the sim doesn't appear to activate as they expect. It detects that it was inserted, says to reboot, after reboot still says no service, and never performs any activation. Verizon rep was claiming that the rom was causing the failures, and it does appear to likely be software related if it is never launching the activation. VZW tech support was no help other than saying it may take up to 12 hours to activate the sim (bs meter going off). Spent 2 hours in the store trying to get it to activate, saying everything was fine on their end. Tried a couple sims in store to rule out a bad sim. Have even tried the tape on the sim trick to see if that might have something to do with it.

Has anyone ever seen / heard of this sort of situation before and have any idea of how to fix it?

Would a stock RUU flash help out in anyway?

Is it because it is not a verizon rom that the activation is not happening? Would I somehow be able to use a different verizon phone to activate the sim, then put it in my phone and have service start working?

Any ideas?

[Q] Error while flashing a CM based ROM after downgrading to KK from 5.0 topic

So, I had Asia 5.0.2 and I saw a FIUI ROM for our device at the MIUI forums. I decided to give this a go and first downgraded to KK and then tried to flash the zip from TWRP and Philz recovery but got this error:

"Can't install this package on top of incompatible data. Please try another package or run a factory reset"

I thought it might be a ROM specific error, but I also tried to flash CM11 but got the same error. How can I get around this? Is this an issue with the updater script or something?

Any help will be appreciated.

[Q] SS Accident - Recover from format??? topic

Hello all, first post in the forums for an S4 but I am at a loss (literally as well). I have an S4 - i545 from Verizon and have been running custom roms and the like for some time now however, using safestrap, I *BELIEVE* I used the format rather wipe trying to factory reset. Here is what I have / can do now:

+ I can enter safestrap although nothing seems to want to mount
+ I can enter download mode (see below for limitations)
+ I can enter stock recovery

what I cannot do:

- only find blank directories using SS (safestrap) file explorer (in advanced menu)
- cannot get any computer to recognize the device (trying to odin using download mode)
- cannot get past the bootscreen (Verizon red)
- find empty directories upon searching for stock recovery files to flash
- cannot mount external SD - I even bought a new extSD/sim card reader
- cannot mount as external drive through SS mount menu
- cannot load external USB (OTG) drive to flash files from in SS (not sure if this would work anyway to be honest)

thoughts:
? firmware not there, although the fact that the file system directory stayed is odd to me (being amateur at best)

I dont know what to do next without Odin... PLEASE HELP! :(

Sincerely,
1Soul

Recover phone from factory reset topic

I have a Galaxy Note II and I had installed lots of apps, and had lots of things customised (no flash/custom ROM though).

The battery was at 10% when I went to bed (I had turned off WiFi, GPS, bluetooth, etc.) I thought that would last me. But when I woke up it was already off and I tried turning it on - the battery was at 3% and the phone turned off again and I tried turning it on.

After that, I plugged in another fully charged battery, and I was booted into the factory reset Samsung Android. Every old setting deleted, all the apps. I opened the file explorer, and every file on the internal storage seemed to be gone too.

What would I have to do to get it back again?

Thanks a lot.

Seems pretty suspicious to me. Why would they be offering an update via email and not through the Play Store?

Just wanted to share it and get some peoples thoughts.

Looking forward to hearing back.

[Q] Disconnects from mobile network several times per day topic

Hi guys, i know this is a common problem, but i have yet to find a solution to it. My S4 (Bell Canada, KOT49H.I337MVLUFNI2, completely stock unrooted) will drop the mobile network (both voice & data), and the only way to get reconnected to Bell is by rebooting my device. After a reboot I might be good for a few hours or for a few days but it always happens again. At first the mobile signal will grey out, then eventually turn to a circle with a line through it. In the network mode setting becomes blank and non-selectable.

Suggestions around the web include selecting WCDMA only, clearing the cache, factory resets, and reflash the full firmware package with Kies3. Ive tried them all and the problem always inevitably returns.

Here are a few links to people with similar problems, but nobody seems to have a solution in any of these threads either:

Other than returning it for a replacement under warranty, does anybody have any other suggestions to fix this? Thanks.

[Q] Restore Deleted Files from Samsung Internal Memory topic

Hello,

I have deleted pictures on the internal memory of my Samsung S4. I have tried all things I found on the Internet to try to recover those files but failed. I rooted the phone and checked the USB Debugging in the developers options and still no recovery app is able to see my internal memory and try to access it to recover the files.

I tried to use the "USB Mass Storage Enabler" application to try to let the phone be seen as a USB device but it failed with the error that it was denied root access and I am not able to grant it the access.

Any help with this problem please?

Regards,

[Q] Yellow Screen from hotspot mod, Help? topic

*deep breath*

I was following Qbking77's hotspot guide and now I'm stuck on the yellow screen like it seems a lot of people have been. Some of the comments there pointed me here but I don't understand the fixes or they were trying to do something else.

I just want my phone back, I don't care about data.

I'm hoping someone here will have mercy and the skills to help me.

Before I started this process I watched the videos closely and I used clockworkmod to backup to my SD card. I know he recommends goomanager but it's nowhere to be found on the play store. A backup is a backup I thought :/
When I push VOL up+ power+ home it will load and I've tried loading the backup I made - I get an MD5 mismatch error. Resetting to factory default made no difference either - and I hope I didn't fudge any chance of recovery by trying that option.

My phone is a sprint galaxy S4 SPH-L720, kitkat 4.4.2

If someone would take a few minutes and help me get my lifeline back I'd really appreciate it.

I guess I also don't understand why he said that renaming the services files was a way to undo the mod if it failed because I can't even boot my phone to access them. <<WHY?

[Q] LG G3 (d855), downgrade from 5.0 and/or root?! HELP! topic

Hey!
Going to make this as short and simple as possible.

So I was runinng stock LG G3 4.4.2, but about 1 week ago I recieved the 5.0 update to my phone. I was all glad and dandy until I got sick to my stomach with McAfee (unfreeze-able and non-removable) and games starting to lagg without device even getting hot...
So I decided to Root and run CM or some other more lightweight ROM, but to my greatest fear, 5.0 seems unrootable atm!? I am at a loss here.. I am in no way happy with the Lollipop update, I can't even see if my device is running ART or not, and the overall experience feels even more sluggish than before - Need a 'get out of jail' card over here ~

Sidenote; I've only ever owned Samsung Devices (S2 and S4) as main phones, so I feel a bit lost when it comes to how LG run things (no Odin is my primary issue, as well as limited support since the device is not all that popular).

TL;DR:
1. Is there a working Root for LG G3 International d855 (32gb, 3gb RAM)devices running stock 5.0?
2. If not 1: Is there a way to downgrade from 5.0 to KitKat again?
3. If 2: What's the best way to Root the device with, and what Kitkat version should I run?

Anyone come from SGS5? Camera? topic

My wife has the Galaxy S5 and we're real impressed with the camera. Pictures of our kids are great.

We both had the Nexus 5 previously, and the camera is terrible in comparison. It *can* take great shots, just very few. SGS5 takes great shots almost always.

My main thought is taking pictures of our kids in normal everyday situations and lighting. I don't care as much about photos from nature, etc. Most smart phone cameras take those well. But kids move and lighting isn't always right, etc. SGS5 seems to do great with this. What about the OnePlus One? In comparison?

[Q] What benefit from IMEI change? topic

Ok, My old SGS3 finally gave up the ghost and I purchased a Z3c. I trimmed the SIM card from my SGS3 to fit the Z3c, booted up setup the phone and am on LTE (At&T) able to make voice calls, send and receive sms, check voicemail etc...

I noticed when I log into my ATT account page online it shows a generic phone picture now instead of the SGS3 picture it used to. What benefit do I gain from calling in my new IMEI number? I ask because for the moment everything appears to be working great... and if there is no strong negative to not updating my IMEI I was wondering why do it (as I assume they may attempt to hit me with an upgrade fee or I have read a few threads on other sites about how when they provided the new IMEI suddenly LTE or other service issues cropped up that weren't there when using the old IMEI...)

Thanks for any responses that might be helpful in allowing me to understand why I should update it or why it may or may not be important (pro's and con's)
