[Q] Wifi Tethering bypass trick with SQ Lite Editor, how do I to get it to work? topic

On this post, MrNa5ty kindly point out that there's an entry in Sq Lite Editor read as "tether_entitlement_check_state", yet I don't see it on my end. I also notice there's a step before everything, which is "need to try and activate the hot spot initially in the user interface settings", to my limited knowledge, I believed I had already done that, yet it still didn't seem to be appearing anywhere on my Sq Lite screen, does anyone has a similar situation like this and get resolved? The picture below is what I think MrNa5ty referring to as "user interface settings". Or maybe not, bc how is a rookie like me know any better, lol.

screenshot from E980
Anyway, I went back to SQ Lite Editor after I see this message pop up

And I had done this so many times, I lost count, but I never able to see that database entry ""tether_entitlement_check_state" appear, man I wish banging my head to the wall could solve this problem. crying:

PS: Do I have to unroot it before it could work?

Easy trick to S-OFF for those who have TMOBO10 and HBoot 2.15 topic

Hi everyone, I am fairly new to doing all this, but for last three days or so, I've been really frustrated due to not getting S-OFF on my HTC one s ville. I want to run Sense 6 ROM by Liberty, but was having lot of problems, so someone suggested I try to get S-OFF. I tried rumrunner like 5 times, but failed. Tried installing other ROMs and did it again, still failed, but this what did it.

1) FIRST, flash the following ROM (CM11S_ville_2.15_v3.1_kk-final, from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-...one-s-t2869703), it has its own Kernel, so just flash the boot.img as usual and flash the ROM.
2) Now go ahead and restart your phone and activate the debugging, etc. Also make sure SuperSu is in there, if not, then go ahead flash that again, then restart your phone and open the app to activate it.
3)HERE IS THE KEY NOW --> CHANGE YOUR KERNEL TO THIS --> bubba_kernel-2014-07-26_Ville (get it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2134535). Download it from Post# 2 at the bottom under Donate and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM POST #4
4), go ahead and let the phone turn on. Make sure SuperSu is still there and activated. Also set screen timeout to maximum, so it doesn't go blank on you, DEACTIVATE all screen locks as well.
4) Make sure all your drivers are up to date (FOLLOW all the instructions on http://rumrunner.us/instructions/)
5) Tip --> Follow this video step by step (key is to make a separate folder which has rumrunner and drivers together).
6) Run the rumrunner and don't forget to disable your antivirus software and firewell in your computer.

I am sure this will simply get you S-OFF easily.

It just needs an "unsecure kernel" and this one does the job :).

[TRICK] How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent *super easy* topic

locate (or create) the following file and disable the read permissions
/data/data/com.cooliris.media/files/zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg

(to locate/create and edit the above file permissions use a file manager app able to navigate the /data folder.
NOTE: Manual edit of files in /data/folder require root permissions so the Andriod system must be rooted first
NOTE2: This trick works on Samsung Galaxy Y stock ROM, on which the system looks for the file zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg located in /data/data/com.cooliris.media/files to be used as lockscreen wallpaper. Other ROMs might look for different filename and/or different location.)
That's it! :D

As side note I want to add that my first read about this topic was, about two weeks ago, a thread started by XDA member recognized contributor marcussmith2626 more than one year ago (How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent) which explains a more sophisticated way to get the lockscreen transparent and that might work on a variety of ROM and devices.
Then I accidentally discovered the above trick by my own (I forgot to set the permissions after replacing the jpg file) and I decided to share it here even though I don't know if anyone had posted the same trick before as comment at the marcussmith2626 thread or anywhere else in XDA or the Internet virtual space ;)
