[Q] Is /dev/block/mmcblk0 the whole device ROM ? topic

I'm actually trying to revive a dead android device by cloning another one of the same model. I'm using this method forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450045
The exact command I used is (on the working device)

Code:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard1/backup_img

And now I'm asking if I can restore this backup to the other device by using this command:

Code:

dd if=/backup_img of=/dev/sdb

The dead device is mounted as Qualcomm CDMA Technology MSM on ubuntu, exactly at /dev/sdb.
Please can any expert told me if this can work or it will break the dead device again?

Thanks XDA !
