Rooting the Memo Pad 7 with RootZenFone topic

I guess this should be made sticky as a lot of users ask this same question over and over again.
This is supposed to answer all the questions about how to use the RootZenFone (RZF from now on) application to root the Memo Pad 7. For now I can only refer to the ME176C/CX as this is the version I own.

Get the RZF application from here. Always use the latest version!

Using the RZF application

1. Back up your data. As you don't yet have root, use whatever tool you have to back up anything you would like to keep from your unrooted tablet. Media, application settings, etc.


2. Forget the wireless network to which the tablet connects when you root the device.


3. Turn off wireless.


4. Allow the device to install apps from different sources (other than the Play Store) - check the Settings for this option.


5. Install the RZF application. The application should install without problems. If you encounter any issues when installing it, please consider getting it again from a new source or using a different connection (to make sure the download is not corrupted).


6. Open the RZF application and READ everything there. No kidding, just read all the text!


7. Tap on the Root button.


8. Wait 10 seconds. Count them in your head (or out loud) - one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc.


9. After the 10 seconds, press the Power button on the tablet for 3 -4 seconds and select Restart from the pop-up menu.


10. After the tablet restarts, check for the SuperUser application in the app drawer. You should now have root.
