Protect Chromecast topic

Hello guys,

I am thinking about buying a Chromecast. The only thing that stops me is the protection of it.
I currently live in a big student house with 16 other people. The wifi network is shared with all of us. I'm pretty sure some of my housemates are going to troll me with the Chromecast since it's so easy to connect to it.
The question is if there is a way to protect my future Chromecast by whatever method (whitelist, password etc).
I have no control over the router and I dont think I will get that. I also dont want to spend a lot money in buying (network) stuff.
I don't mind rooting and stuff like that.
