Lg g2 "cross dll" or "device model different" or "fota/laf partion changed" solved topic

if you are facing any problem while flashing stock rom to your lg g2 then this thread will help you to fix those errors.

if you have flashed wrong firmware to you g2 like d802 rom on d800 then may be you face some error
1) Attachment 3116549
device model is different!
check phone or dll!
and flashing stops.

2) if you will use custom version of LGUP_8974.dll which does not check for phone model then u will have such error
Cross DLL D801 to LS980...... or something like error with different mode
Attachment 3116555
Cross DLL D801 to LS980 means you are trying to flash d801 firmware on ls980. it occurs due to flashing of wrong firmare. eg u flashed d802 on your d800 then when u will flash back d800 rom then u can face this problem.
u can also face this problem if you changed the name of your device model by modifying build.pro file in your system folder of g2. ( most of the third party d800 and d801 etc are tricked with this method to make it d802 in hardware info. this is the story behind all the bricked lg g2 d802 which are actually other variant d800 or d801 or others. you can also change the name of your device using hex editor by modifying tot or kdz file before flashing)

solution for the above two error is same :-
we will change the tot or kdz file of our phone model in this case let we have d800. but by mistake i have flashed d802 or it was a refurbished phone with modified phone model d802 but actually it is d800.
so we can only flash d802 firmware but it will bricked our lg g2 d800 like lg logo stuck or no download mode or no recovery or qhsusb bulk mode.
but when u will try to flash the original model rom ie. stock rom for d800 then u will get this error.
so how can we do the flashing of d800.
here is the answer..
we need hex editor. link http:http://www.hhdsoftware.com/free-hex-editor
and stock rom tot or kdz file of d800( exact model)
now we have to change the name of d800 to d802 using hex editor and save this file with the same extention.
1) open hex editor.
Attachment 3116701

2) go to file click on open-then select open file.
browse the stock rom for d800 ( exact model in this case) and open it.
Attachment 3116702

3) right click on the mid black space. then choose find. and type the model of your g2 eg. D800. and click on find.
NOTE:- while typing LS980, F320S, D802 ( use capital letters)
Attachment 3116704

4) now you will get the result like this. see the pic...
Attachment 3116705
at 00006017 line u will see the model of ur g2, now change it to D802. for changing click on letters or digit u want to change and press the required letters or digit. ( for ex. if my model is LS980 AND I want to change F320L, SIMPLY change the letter.
in this case i only changed 0 at the last of d800 to make it 2. no need to change the next line 00006020.

5) now go to file at the left top corner and click save all. and save this file as any name with tot or kdz extention ( i changed it to d800hexmod.tot.
Attachment 3116707
it will take some time to repack your firmware. ( sometimes file is not saved properly then u will get load failed error when u will start the lg flash tool. so if u get this error do the same process again).
Attachment 3116708

6) now flash your d800 with this modified tot file and u will not get any error. after complete flashing you should flash again ur d800 with unmodified stock rom.....
and u will get ur phone fixed.

note :- if u still get error while flashing modified tot file after some percentage of success like 30% then u have done the purpose of this method. u need not to worry. just flash with unmodified stock rom.

3) laf retrieveGPT() failed
partition changed fota.
Attachment 3116583

this error occurs when you change the partition of laf.img file.
you can see there is only one difference between all lg variant lg g2
only laf.img file has different partion no
lg g2-F320s/l/k - lg g2-ls980/vs980 - lg g2-L01F have same partion table
and
lg g2-D802/d800/d801 has same partion table

lg g2-F320s/l/k - lg g2-ls980/vs980 - lg g2-L01F
dd if=modem.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition1
dd if=sbl1.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition2
dd if=dbi.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition3
dd if=aboot.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition5
dd if=rpm.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition6
dd if=boot.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition7
dd if=tz.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition8
dd if=misc.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition13
dd if=recovery.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition15
dd if=laf.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition24

lg g2-D802/d800/d801
dd if=modem.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition1
dd if=sbl1.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition2
dd if=dbi.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition3
dd if=aboot.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition5
dd if=rpm.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition6
dd if=boot.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition7
dd if=tz.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition8
dd if=misc.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition13
dd if=recovery.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition15
dd if=laf.img of=\?\Device\Harddisk1\Partition23

so if you have flashed d800 or d801 on ls980 or any other then ur laf partition will be changed.
so when u will revert back to ls980 then it will show cross dll or laf partion changed.
so to fix this issue you have to recover partition again as per your partion table.
you can follow this thread to recover partition by forcing lg g2 into 9006 mode.. click below link to know about how to recover partition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...-9006-t2939627
or you can use this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2582142

after flashing correct partition this time you will be able to flash firmware without any fota partition changed error.
