checking reception on a foreign network topic

Hi.
Is it possible to check how good is the signal strength on a network my phone finds but currently cannot connect to (because it is not my home network and does not allow roaming)?
I want to check it because I am thinking about moving to that carrier and I want to check how is the signal strength in my place.
