I have seen a few step by step guides on here to rooting and flashing a new rom for other phones, but nothing for the AT&T Note 3. Learning how to do all the different steps and where to find the files I needed took more leg work than I felt it needs to. Doing all that took several hours, where as the process of flashing the new rom/doing all of the below steps only took me about a half hour!
Therefore, I put together this step by step guide so that others in the same situation as me would have one thread that includes all the information they need. I'm hoping this is able to save atleast one person a few hours of time they could spend doing something more fun.
None of this work is mine. All of these programs and any of the instructions below were put together by others and this guide is entirely the product of other people's hardwork. All I did was copy and paste them all into one thread.
Step A: Skip this step if you are on a Kit Kat rom 4.4 etc. AT&T already autoupdates the Note 3’s to KitKat months ago so you are 99.9% most likely already on KitKat and can skip this step
If you’re NOT on KitKat (4.4.2) then you need to follow these instructions to get to KitKat http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2712039
Step B: Root the*Android Device
This can all be done on the phone itself.
1. Go to Settings > Security > and check Unknown Sources ON to allow us to install third-party apps.
2. On your phone, head to*http://towelroot.com.
3. Tap on the Lambda (the big red letter looking icon in the middle of the site).
4. Save the tr.apk file to your device.
5. Pull down the notification shade by pulling down from the top of the device.
6. Tap on the Download Complete notification.
7. Tap Install.
8. Pull down the notification shade by pulling down from the top of the device.
9. Tap on Installation Complete to open the app.
10. Tap on the Make it Ra1n button and wait for it to do its thing.
11. You should get a success notice, that’s it, you’re rooted.
Step C: Install SuperSU
To stop unauthorized apps from using the new found root access, we’ll install SuperSU.
1. Go to the Play Store on your device.
2. Search for SuperSU.
3. Tap on the one by Chainfire and install it.
4. Once done, tap the Open button.
5. Allow it to update it’s binaries and anything else it prompts you to do.
Step D: Test Root Access
1. Go to the Play Store on your device.
2. Search for Root Checker.
3. Tap on the result and install it.
4.*Once done, tap the Open button.
5. Tap Run and make sure it says you are rooted.
Step E: Download the custom rom to your phone’s microsd card
You can do this on the phone it self. You can download any Custom KitKat rom that is designed for the AT&T Note 3. There’s several to choose from. Some people like Alliance Rom found here… http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2778933
But the most popular and IMO best rom is Dynamic Kat 6.1.3. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2709701) You can download Dynamic Kat 6.1.3 here…
http://www.dynamicrom.com/index.php/...31-dynamic-kat
Make sure that you download Version 6.1 (6.1.3) as this is the last stable release of the ROM and everything past this version has bugs.
You should also download the GPETheme 6.1 for the Dynamic Kat 6.1.3 custom rom (it makes it look identical to stock Android.) You can download it here…
http://www.dynamicrom.com/index.php/...ay-edition-gpe
Step F: Download SafeStrap 3.75-B03 onto your phone’s microsd card
You can download Safestrap from here…
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devd...1481#downloads
You should also download Gapps (Google Apps) onto your microsd card from here…
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=15800
Don’t forget to move everything you downloaded above using your phone’s internet browser, from the default location (downloads folder) over the the microsd by using a file browser like “My Files” to move all these files to the microsd card.
Then install the app Busybox from the Google Play Store and install this app (SafeStrap 3.75 won’t work if Busybox is not installed)
Step G: Install the Custom Rom onto your phone using Safestrap 3.75-B03
1. There is a step by step picture guide on how to do this at this website…
http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-no...galaxy-note-3/
This ROM requires you to use Stock ROM Slot, otherwise it will not boot!
And that's it. You should now be rooted, flashed and good to go.

Q.What happens when I wipe data?
A.While in Safestrap if you select the "Wipe" button, you will then be taken to a screen with three options. Here is an attempt to somewhat clarify those options.
1. Swipe to Factory Reset - This is the most common way of wiping, and what is most commonly used for installing a new ROM. This option is considered a "Clean Flash".
2. Advanced Wipe - This option is used to specify partitions to wipe. It is generally okay to select all options here EXCEPT "Micro SDcard". This can also be used when doing a "Clean Flash".
3. Format Data - DO NOT USE the "Format Data" button. If you select it by accident you are going to be required to type the word "yes" to even proceed further. You have been hereby WARNED. If you refuse to heed this warning there is a good chance you will soft brick your phone.
Q. Can I flash to a slot?
A. Yes, you sure can. Expect bugs or issues, expect the reboot option in the power menu to NOT work.
Q. How do I flash a theme?
A. Flash the rom, then flash either S5 theme or GPE theme. You then can flash a color option for the GPE theme.
Q. How to I go back to stock?
A. Dirty flash the rom. (see above)
Q. Somethings are acting strange, is there a easy fix?
A. Boot to SS (safestrap) hit wipe, now hit advanced and check the cache and delvic cache box's ONLY! slide to wipe, reboot system.
Q. My signal is weak, is it the rom?
A. I highly doubt that, it's related to the modem and some are better than others depending where you are. Check out other Modems here
Q. Where can I find the add-on'?
A. In the DK store. Hit menu/system settings/device then DK rom control.
Q. My battery life isn't very good, how can I find what's going on?
A. Download "wakelock detector" and "better battery stats". Then if you are still confused, take a screenshot and post it.
Q.What is that Bar on the top of my Status Bar?
A.That is the Miui Battery Bar, this can be altered or turned off in DK Rom Control under Status Bar Mods/Miui Battery Bar.
Q.Why do I have 2 batteries?
A.After first boot, You need to pick one to disable in Rom Control.
Q. How do I make my status bar transparent?
A. Go to the Rom Control and then tap status bar mods. Go down and tap "Status Bar Gradients." Now there should be 2 color options, just tap a color, then tap the box on the bottom right because that is the transparent. Do the same for the second color.
