Google Now help topic

Just upgraded from Moto X to Moto X 2014 and have a question with Google Now. Is there a way to have Google Now work when phone is in standby mode? It will work in standby modeif it is plugged in to a charger.
The Moto app will work in standby just wondering if Goggle Now will.
