I've inherited a HOX which I'm trying to set up for my wife to use. It has a very unusual issue, when plugged in either to a charger or a PC, it shows no indication of charging - i.e. no red LED. On a PC, it intermittently gets picked up as an unknown device - or more correctly 3 unknown devices, maybe mass storage, composite & MTP? Not sure cos it doesn't pick up any device info. As I say it is intermittent which suggests the micro-USB socket might be at fault.
But there is evidence that it is accepting a charge because every 10 minutes or so the phone vibrates and displays the initial start-up screen i.e. white background with HTC logo & it doesn't get past that. It doesn't show the 'Quietly brilliant' screen first like on a regular start-up. The screen stays lit for 3 minutes or so, then it flickers and turns off. Then it turns on again about 10 minutes later and goes through the same cycle. It does this continually when plugged in. I've also tried charging using the 2 end dock contacts and it goes through the same cycle. Also, the battery & board are both warm but not hot.
I've ordered a replacement USB socket which is easy to fit as its not soldered - this might help with PC access.
I've also tried using a variety of button combinations, but the buttons seem to be completely inactive and don't do anything either when it's in the 'on' or 'off' mode.
Any ideas? I've searched and haven't come across anyone else experiencing this issue.
