[Q] New Boot Loop Problem topic

DISCLAIMER: I have been through many threads on here as well as googled the crap out of this problem.

A friend gave me his device because it is "broke." After examining it, once you press the power button the device will attempt to boot then just go to a black screen. It does this every time you try to turn it on.

I put it on a charger for a while yesterday to make sure it has sufficient power and hoping that may fix it. Still seeing the same problem today. So I have done quite a bit of research and I constructed my own fastboot cable. When I plug the device into my computer using the fastboot cable, it goes into a continuous loop of kindle fire boot screen, fastboot load screen, off.

This causes a problem with the utilities that I have tried (Kindle Fire Utility and Kindle Unbrick Utility) because the device is not on long enough for the utilities to recognize it. Or , alternatively, I have noticed that when the device goes to the fastboot screen the device "Tate-PVT-08" pops up then quickly disappears. This tells me that there is not a driver installed. I assume this his adding to the problem but I am not sure how to get a driver installed so windows recognizes the device for the split second it is available.

One last thing, I was messing around with the device unplugged today and actually got it booted to the main OS screen but then it quickly shut off. I did notice that it was at 100% charge.

I have been through the holding of the power button for 20s, 40s, and all that crap. I also disconnected the battery for a bit then retried. These didn't seem to help.

Hoping someone here has some advice. Thanks!
