Looking for a modem suggestion for my Note 2(SGH-1317) topic

The data connection seems to be spotty at times, and so does the wifi. Would someone kindly suggest a modem for this phone and build? Maybe even a better kernal?

I haven't have much luck narrowing any options down. :eek:
